Wedding Photography Checklist for Couples

Everything worth confirming with your photographer before your wedding day, so there are no surprises afterward.

Wedding Photography Checklist for Couples

Before you book

Review full, real wedding galleries — not just curated highlight reels — to judge consistency across different lighting conditions and moments, not just the best 20 photos. Meet the photographer or team beforehand if possible; you'll spend many hours together on the day, so personality fit genuinely matters.

Confirm exactly how many photographers/videographers will be present, whether drone coverage is included, and whether the same team you met will actually be the one shooting your wedding.

Deliverables to confirm in writing

Number of edited photos you'll receive, whether an album is included (and how many pages/spreads), whether you get a cinematic trailer and/or a full wedding film, and the exact delivery timeline for each. Ask about backup and storage policy — a professional team should have a plan for backing up your footage on the day itself, not just afterward.

On the day itself

Share a rough event timeline with your photography team in advance so they know when key moments (baraat arrival, varmala, pheras, vidaai) are happening. Assign a family member or planner as a point of contact for the photographer if you'll be difficult to reach directly during the ceremony.

Build in a little buffer time for formal family portraits — these always take longer than expected once you start coordinating groups of relatives.
